Do your front wheels do this under braking?
Well you need polyurethane bushes!
And who is the biggest brand name for
polyurethane bushes in the UK?
Powerflex |
 |
The Powerflex brand was established back in 1996 to take advantage of the significant
advances made in the development of polyurethane. Their parent company had wide experience of automotive suspension
and chassis systems and combined these design skills
with advanced polyurethane manufacturing techniques
to develop the wide range of high performance
automotive polyurethane bushes now known the world
over as Powerflex.
The
company operates from a self-contained state of the art
factory, manufacturing everything inhouse. Component manufacturing is carried out
with the latest automatic processing equipment ensuring
100% right first time quality. The
stainless steel components are machined on the latest
computer controlled equipment to ensure perfect repeatability
and quality. Testing of new components
is carried out both on the vehicle and on test rigs.
Technical
Suspension bushes are some of the most highly
stressed components on a motor vehicle.
They undergo enormous strains in the most
arduous of conditions with no maintenance
or lubrication and are manufactured from a rubber
compound containing natural products which
deteriorates with age. It becomes softer and
more pliable over time, allowing more
movement of suspension components
and therefore less control over the
suspension geometry. This
causes accelerated tyre wear, braking instability
and poor handling. It is the main reason
a three
year old car feels so different to drive than a brand new one.
The answer to the degradation of rubber bushes is Polyurethane. It
has been with us as a specialised plastic
for some forty years but advances
in the 90's made it possible to engineer very
special properties into this exciting material. First, polyurethane does not age like rubber and from new is 25-30% stiffer, thus providing much better suspension control. Secondly, harder bushes used to mean increased NHV (noise, vibration and harshness) but polyurethane has the same noise absorbing properties as rubber, hence the best of both worlds!
